This is the L7 Collection from Larson Juhl. These hand water gilded moldings were inspired by Le Corbusier, the father of modern architecture, (most influential of the 20th century), whose furniture designs were signed with the letter “L” followed by a number. The one pictured is a silver and maple floater frame for a canvas, but the line includes all types of frames and widths. Also comes in a gold water gilded finish.

Le Corbusier brought urban architect into the face of the technological age. His legacy demonstrates a sense of purpose to meet the needs of a society dominated by the machine. He was both criticized and credited for his reinvention of the modern city skyline. He also co-designed a system of furniture with his cousin. It is a tubular steel line (also “L” and a number) of seating collections. (available through Design Within Reach)
