I have had a long standing relationship
with artist, Helen Frank for over 25 years!
At this moment we celebrate this wonderful New Jersey artist
and have the most comprehensive collection of her work
we have ever collected here in the gallery.
A recent screening of a new documentary on Helen by filmmaker Kasey Childs brought us together.
Helen Frank is an American artist who captures moments of everyday life in her copperplate etchings and paintings. Born in 1930 and raised between New York and New Jersey, Frank works in pastel, oils, and collage. Her work depicts beach scenes, carnivals, museums, city landscapes, candid portraits, and still lives. Some of her repeating subjects are the interior and exterior of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Jersey shore, and clothing like hats and purses.
Frank received her education from the Newark School of Fine and Industrial Art, Yale, the New School, Cooper Union, Art Students League, and Tyler School of Fine Art at Temple University. Her work has been featured in dozens of exhibitions across the country, including Carnagie-Mellon University, Pratt Institute, American Watercolor Society, and the National Museum of Dance. In addition, Frank has illustrated books like The Nun’s Garden, Menopause, and We’ve Struck Golden, to name a few. |
