When people think of art consulting, they usually picture choosing brand-new artwork, selecting frames, and designing from the ground up. And yes — we do all of that.
But here’s something many people don’t realize:
We also specialize in working with existing collections — even those that are already framed and labeled — and transforming them into something fresh, cohesive, and perfectly integrated into a new space.

A recent project gave us the chance to do just that — and it turned out to be truly meaningful.
A Local Legacy, Reimagined
This project began with a unique donation: a collection of over 80 framed historic photographs, each labeled and carefully curated by Charles Cummings, (1937- 2005), who was Assistant Director of Special Collections and Statewide Outreach of The Newark Public Library. Originally displayed in a local restaurant, the collection told the story of Newark life from the early 1900s to the 1950s, capturing everything from iconic buildings and bustling local businesses to legendary entertainers, groundbreaking inventions, and the city’s evolving transportation scene.
When the restaurant closed, the collection changed hands — and eventually, the most recent owner decided to donate the full collection to the building . It was a generous gesture —
and one that needed thoughtful handling.
That’s where we came in.

Designing with Care and Purpose
While the art itself was already selected and beautifully framed, our job was to bring design, structure, and storytelling to the installation so it would feel intentional, welcoming, and visually cohesive in its new home.
1. We found the storylines.
We reviewed each photo and plaque, then grouped the pieces into visual themes – important buildings and industry, local business, entertainment, sports, etc. — so the collection could unfold in a meaningful way as people walked through the space.
2. We designed for the space.
We mapped out where each group would go — considering wall sizes, sightlines, traffic patterns, and how people would naturally engage with the work in different parts of this expansive reception lobby, which features two large open seating areas, a central reception desk, and a long hallway stretching toward the elevators.
3. We handled the full installation.
Our team took care to make sure everything was evenly spaced, level, and placed at just the right height so it could be easily seen and appreciated and installed with security-lock hardware. The end result didn’t feel cluttered or random — 80 pieces came together as a thoughtful, well-organized display that tells a story

A Service Many Clients Don’t Know We Offer
This project is a great reminder that art consulting isn’t always about starting from zero.
✅ Sometimes it’s about taking what you already have and making it work in a new context.
✅ Sometimes it’s about preserving a legacy while giving it a fresh, intentional presentation.
✅ And sometimes, the best art solution is already in your space — it just needs design expertise to bring it to life.
